How is usage measured?
By the volume of telemetry your services send us, in gigabytes per calendar month, measured at the ingest gateway in UTC. It resets on the first of each month, and you can watch it move - Settings → Usage & billing shows the running bill, updated every 30 seconds, broken down by day and by product.
What happens if I send a lot?
Nothing stops. Ingest is priced in bands, and each band's rate applies only to the gigabytes that fall in it - so a heavy month costs more per month, not more per gigabyte. There is no hard cap and no overage penalty; if a service is running away, you can pause that product in Products and it stops sending within 30 seconds.
What is retention rent?
Storage is the part of your cost that keeps costing after the data arrives, so it is priced separately from ingest: a longer window is rent on the same gigabytes, a shorter one gives some back. You choose it yourself, it takes effect at the next UTC midnight, and each day's data is priced at the window in force that day - so changing it never re-prices what you already sent.
Do you limit how many people can use it?
No. Unlimited team members, on every account, with every feature. You pay for the data you send, not for seats.
When am I charged?
After the month, for the month. You save a card, you send, and we charge it on the 1st for the month before - so you are never paying in advance for volume you might not use. Tax is added at close by Stripe Tax from your billing address.
